I went to Sauve’ Guitars today and played two. They were beautiful. I love his aesthetic visually and tonally, very clean very simple, solid and tonally they were rich and elegant. Steve is not only a tremendous artist and craftsman but a very warm and sincere person. Of the 3 luthiers that come from the Gurian school he is the least self promoting. No signs, no web site, no sales pitch, just play the guitar and talk. I’d actually like to make him a website. People should know about him. We spoke about photos and a film as well as website. I’ve decided that I must make a film on custom guitar making. They’re is a renaissance of luthiers from the Gurian starting in NYC in the 60’s to all the above, to John Monteleone in NYC today, to George Lowden out of Northern Ireland. There are many, many more. Compared to the 80’s when the art was waning today it is thriving.
